Pill box and more than I expected

I headed out in search of a few of the pill boxes that litter the hills surrounding Buxton, It wasn't long before I found a nice little box between Buxton and Leek and headed off up the hill to take a few snaps.

It wasn't until I stood on top of the box that I noticed what looked like steps leading down, I was right and there was a little air raid shelter (aprox 10 foot long so not that little) Feeling rather pleased with my self I went for a nosey over the hill and what I found is pictured below.

I have no history for this site and to be honest I'm not 100% sure of the exact location as I was just driving over the hills at random.

I can say the security are on the ball and very sharp dressers turning up in shiny black land rovers

The area closer to the road looked like farmers were keeping equipment in them, but further away from the road things looked a bit more guarded

It was at this point that 2 Land rovers turned up and the well dressed security guards escorted me from the land and followed me to the main road

Mmmm interesting, you’re in the middle of nowhere with what looks like a store for farmer browns sheep feed and fire wood yet there is cctv and security with landy’s !! what’s behind those doors 10th photo down, looks like vehicles driven in and out with the tracks in the mud!

I would have expected at least a fence and gtfo sign for some thing with cameras and guards

u wasnt playing around harpur hill by any chance

this is why there was alot of security .......... http://www.hsl.gov.uk/ they own the land including the old ww2 ammo stores, but thats not to say it cant be explored as many peeps have over time u just need to be carefull and as u didnt know where u where u wasnt expecting it lol

next time u try u will know and keep an eye out for the subway trains

The red flags were out, I was heading that way to start with. It's been mentioned on fb that there is MOD land about where I was :-$

Yellow jib is so they can lower bombs down to the tunnel, your main building is the bomb store!!

its defo the harpur site just look on google maps and go to street view near one of the bunkers u will see the bunkers u took pics of

I went up like a ninja last night and got got lost in the fog, harpur hill is full of bits

Had a good look around a few years ago before getting escorted off site. Hardly surprising with what the site is currently being used for. I believe there is a public right of way thru the site tho.
