Pub was owned by brewery Robinson's but just before the pandemic they said they were going to close it. Apparently locals campaigned to keep it open and the brewery agreed to see if six more months would make a difference, but it still ended up closing down in July 2020 just as lockdown got into full swing. Been closed and up for sale every since. Valued at around £575,000 but the brochure we saw listed it for £300,000. At the rate it's coming apart it won't be worth that unless they tighten security. Although, we were obviously glad for the easy access on that day.

Blurb pre-closure: "This is a very attractive, well appointed pub, with a wide menu of superb food and good beer. It has a comfortable airy feel to it. Real fires and no TVs or loud music make this a haven where you can actually chat with your friends. Nearby are great views and nice country walks. It is an ideal pit-stop for the family. Note - it has a fully equipped disabled persons WC, with baby changing facilities. It has a massive covered and heated outdoor patio and very child (and dog) friendly garden."

When we arrived:

Inside doesn't look particularly vandalised in the normal way. I think it's weather issues that have caused the roof to cave in. The overturned tables and graffiti all seem to have been done for a 'haunted places' youtube channel who's name I will not give any free advertising to. Things like 'don't go into the basement' painted on the bar.

The most intact bathroom I've ever seen in any explore we've ever done!!!

First kitchen area pretty much intact included all dishes and cups:

Cooking area was a mess though and oil all over the floor so be careful if you go. I was skating the rest of the explore.

Basement and outside buildings all still full of stuff.

Note: All the booze is gone. We checked.

Never really found pubs that interesting but this looks reasonable at the moment!
We've only done a few because once you've been in a few you've pretty much been in them all. There's one near us though that's 100+ years' old and meant to be completely untouched inside with rooms upstairs as well. That might be interesting. Sadly, we're having to wait till the weather tears something off or someone tries to rob it in order to get access. Feel like a vulture sometimes doing this urbex stuff ....

Sounds like it was a lovely spot with a cozy atmosphere and some great features like the covered patio and dog-friendly garden. The fact that it had a welcoming vibe and no TVs or loud music makes it even more of a gem for those looking to have a good old chat with friends.
