I was taking my dog for a walk down by where Queensbury train station used to be. I looked behind me and saw the tunnel. So I nipped home and grabbed my camera. Could not find much history on the bridge but enjoy :)

Standing on, or near, Queensbury east junction, facing east. This rusty but solid little iron bridge is the only real bit of evidence on the whole site
there was actually any railway here at all. Clayton tunnel is a bit further on around the corner.

Did you carry on any further?
You'd have found Clayton tunnel at the bottom of an extremely deep drop!

Queensbury station and tunnel as it was by phill.d, on Flickr

That's the station layout as it was, pretty unique it being a triangle.
This is taken on top of Queensbury tunnel, you can see the stack of the first air shaft.

No i cant say i did. I saw the other two tunnels but couldn't venture far as I only had my trainers on and it was very muddy. So a trip back is needed!

I reckon you need to go another 150 yards to find it. I have some shots of it a few years ago here

Hardly anyone posts a report on Clayton, they all do Queensbury instead. The last photos I saw of the portal show it had been wiped out by Mother Nature, I couldn't believe how much the trees had grown around it in four years
