Hi guys,

I'm looking to do my first explore very soon with a friend. I was wondering what people wear and what they take on these adventures. Mind, I'm not very photography inclined; photos I take will be with my phone.

Thank you!

It all depends on where your going, if its run-down I will always wear a good pair work boots as there maybe lots of debris on the floor which your feet are in constant contact with.
If you have to tackle brambles to get where you need to be I'd advise a thick pair of jeans, even they don't stop them all, my legs are always getting scratched up.
Just think about where you are going and try to blend in.

Look forward to your first report.

As jsp77 says, solid footwear is important, as are rugged trousers (I use a pair of work trousers with removable knee pads). I try to avoid black and camouflage clothing as I think this raises suspicion. In my bag, I take:

*Gloves
*Hat
*First Aid kit
*Torch
*Lighter
*A few quid just in case
*Water
*Water proof trousers
*Lens Wipes
*Remote Shutter Release
*Batteries
*Memory

Don't take anything that could be construed as tools for breaking and entering, this could get you in trouble.

The short answer: camera, torch, spare batteries, P3 mask, gloves. Utilise common sense and don't go unprepared. Don't wear short sleeves or shorts or pay the price.

Like others have said, it all depends on where you're going and also for how long. Don't go taking tools/dodgy stuff or face getting nicked. The community frowns on destructive means of entry and it goes against our maxim. Avoid anyone that does go tooled up like the plague.

I started out with a Blackberry Curve and a torch. Now I'm basically an urbex pack mule.

Good look on your first adventure - most valuable thing you can take with you is your common sense - if your head is telling you something is a little dodgey in any shape or form - then it probably is - listen to that little voice in your head - have fun and stay safe.

Interesting post to see what everybody else wears and takes.
*Combat trousers (loads of pockets)
*Normal everyday hoodie
*Biker Gloves as they have a good grip and are tight for climbing
*Old Trainers (back up boots in the car sometimes)
*Camera Bag Rucksack so it doesn't get in the way
*Cannon 1100D
*Spare Battery
*Spare Memory Card
*Torch
*Lense Cleaner not always used as you can see in some of my posts (oops aha)
*Depending on the place my zoom lense
*Dust Mask

Sound advice from everyone, as Jim said you can overload yourself, remember we do this for fun, so enjoy it, Safe exploring

In general, a phone for emergancys/google maps, torch, dark clothing for night time visits, builders gloves and some climbing slings, water and maybe food if your going to be on site for a long time.
