Rabbit Ruins - Derelict - Cambs - April 2014

Morning

A little find which has seen many a better day, thought I'd share with you, it may have been up before as it's in a really bad way!

No history, called Rabbit Ruins as the grounds were literally covered in warren holes, it was like an assault course getting across the garden!

Pics are a little blury - I blame the camera

Does anyone know what the clumps of brown stuff are?

Nice report thanks. Not sure about the clumps of brown stuff, at first I wondered if they had once been the contents of plant pots, but I think the uniform colour and the shape are wrong for that.

Yes, I agree... first thing I thought was plant pot congestion

They certainly look like that, but I wonder if they are just dried out plugs of Peat? The 'whitish' fibres certainly look like they have grown through the brown, broken down compost.

Nature has certainly reclaimed this one, unusual to see 50's crittal windows in a 100 year old plus property.
Looks like its had a fire as the roof has gone?

I don't think you can't blame the camera for teh blurry photos, perhaps it was the excitement in getting such a find!

Not sure about fire damage, it wasn't obvious.... I think it's been empty so very long that the water has pulled it down...

I hadn't quite appreciated what damage water can do in such a short space of time so my money is on just that.

I found this place about 6 months ago. The fireplaces are great aren't they? There were people in the property behind when I was there who kept walking around and looking at me so I didn't get long. I think there had certainly been a fire at some point as the stairs were burnt if I remember rightly. Nice pictures and thanks for sharing them.

Yes, I managed to avoid them thankfully, loved this place!
