Hi All

This is not an explore as such just a wander around the Duxford IWM, I know many of you guys and girls like the mil thing so I hope this has a good mix for you.

Right first off (bear with me on this) is a picture of the twin link trainer at RAF Long Newnton in Wiltshire.

I`ve wondered what a "Link trainer" was for some time and at Duxford they have one. Below the trainer and its control table.
The new pilot would sit in the small BLUE plane and learn to fly in the very first flight sim.

The link trainer was invented by a mister "LINK"

OK Its big gun time, and who can`t resist a big gun.

Right at places like Dover you can still see the massive gun emplacements like The Citadel Battery and we have all seen those
rows and rows of big bolts buried in to the concrete.

Well below was what was attached to those bolts it`s a 9.5 inch coastal gun.

Next up are a few of the buildings at Duxford just like the day they were built. First off one of the main hangers and then a view inside at the wooded roof. I think it`s called a double Belfast.

Next up is the airfield fire station. and next to that the remodled OPS room, the old ops room was damaged during the war and moved off site.

One of the relicks on site is a complete V1 and it`s launch ramp. Many of the bomber and fighter crews from this part of the country were tasked in finding and
destroying these in the latter part of WW2.

Just 2 more pictures and they are of the new US memorial to all the flight crews who gave there lives for us, when you see just how many there are it makes you stop and think for a long time.
(remember there average age was 21). It`s a very long wall it goes way out of sight all the way round the curve and past the entrance to the US mil section of the museum.

Any and all comments are most welcome.
If any of the MOD team want to move this to another location feel free.

Cheers Newage

Nice one mate we have just seen their bomber sally b display at waddington it was the first time ive seen her fly

A good original look at Duxford... Ended up here the other month instead of going to check out the MRAO... the place is too museum-ified for me though. The Concorde is the worst offender here, glass, railings and displays everywhere.
