Spent Most of Friday and Staurday up at RAF Upper Heyford with afew friends and had a really interesting and spooky time. Spent a Good 3 hours in the Millitary Hospital last night and its such a shame what state it is in so much water damage mainly down to kids leaving the Fire hoses on and flooding a great deal of it. Also alot of Dry wall smashed through. Apart from that a really great explore, Its massive and a real maze when you get inside alot of room look the same and easy to go round in circles. Most things have been stripped and removed but still alot of interesting things to discover. The smell in parts is abit over powering from the mould and some parts are very slippery due to the water.
The 20th Medical Group operated from RAF Upper Heyford, Oxfordshire, England. During Desert Storm the base was designated as the Regional Evacuation Control Center. To accomplish this mission, the 20th TFW activated the contingency hospital complex to support Desert Storm. The 20th TFW accomplished major facility upgrades at RAF Bicester, RAF Little Rissington, and RAF Croughton in record time. The wing provided food, transportation and lodging requirements, as well as personnel, recreational, legal, and financial services to support 5,000 augmenting personnel and an anticipated 2,000 patients.
The multi million pound hospital closed its doors in 1994 and now lies empty and disused despite repeated efforts to find a buyer; it seems likely that this will now be demolished along with the supermarket alongside.
Here's the Hospital in 2001
Heres afew pics i took
