1. The History
Situated near to Bolehill Quarry, Wingerworth near Chesterfield, quarrying here first started on the site in 1940. Realstone was incorporated in October 1998 and was involved in the cutting, shaping and finishing ornamental stone. It was one of the largest suppliers of natural stone in the UK and had three sites in total. It’s headquarters here along with works in Glasgow and Penrith.
After a period of sustained trading losses and sales underperformance, Realstone went into Administration on 18th May, 2016 when it became apparent that it would not be possible to sell the business as a going concern. Its assets were then bought up by Grants of Shoreditch and all 35 employees made redundant by early July. The site has been empty since and suffered at the hands of metal thieves, local arsonists and yobs.
2. The Explore
Solo explore. It’s nothing special but the scale of destruction in such a short space of time is shocking. It has been totalled. Not much to add beyond that, so on with the pictures.

Sadly, the place has been trashed:

Inside it is a mess:

The scale of destruction is palpable:

Obligatory dick graff:

A sample of its former wares:

The place’s saving grace is the odd bit of nice graff. A nice bit of Colorquix:

And a cracking bit of Brayk:

Otherwise, it’s pretty grim:
