So I saw this place floating about a few weeks ago and decided straight away that I wanted to go and have a look - I love getting into residential sites, especially when there is a couple of floors to nose around.
After a short drive I parked up and took a stroll across the road to the building which is hidden well thanks to the garden (and a fence). Getting into the site isn't that difficult although it is on a fairly busy road and is overlooked by a fair number of houses. The building seemed strange to me, it has obviously been abandoned for a long time looking at the state of the back garden (jungle) and the front drive/ garden which is only slightly better. The walls are grimey and damp and theres one or two missing windows along with far too many spiders webs around the outside of the home. I was surprised at how clean the place was graffiti wise - it's very nearly untouched! There were only 3 tags around the entire site all from the same tagger and these dated back to 2007 so its been left for 7 years at least. There are also very few signs of people having been inside apart from the scarce baccy pouches and rizla. What I'm trying to say is that I expected it to be a popular spot from it's location etc and it seems to be the opposite... I can't find any other information about it other than it was once privately owned and at some point it only had 4 residents.
Anyway, the whole of the ground floor is pitch black or near enough, the flash on my camera was very useful. There is a lot of damp and peeling paint and wallpaper inside, the hanging paper on the ceilings upstairs look like teeth. There is also a range of fireplaces, some blue, some yellow and they are fairly impressive. I have also never seen bracken growing out of a carpet before... It's not the biggest place but it was good to have a mooch about the dark corridors and basement downstairs, wondering what you are going to come across and then being greeted with daylight once you've found the upper floors. There is also a good view over Redhill from the attic.
I know there's a report on the home already so i've tried not to duplicate too many pics!
