Firstly, I know this isn't a proper report, so I hope it's ok to post these pictures here? If not, I apologise.
I just got back from a trip to Bavaria, Germany, which included a few days in Nuremberg. We went to visit the Reichsparteitage which was an incredibly humbling and deeply moving experience.
It's very admirable the way the city has partly preserved the site, but also redeveloped it to create a beautiful leisure area which everyone can enjoy.
I only have a little point and shoot camera, but I do hope my photos convey a little of what it's like to walk around such a place.

The Congress Hall. Although not strictly derelict, still an imposing and oddly attractive building.

The Zeppelinfeld. Standing at the top, looking out at where once thousands upon thousands of people paid tribute to Hitler is a disconcerting experience.

Someone had scrawled upon this door, at the top of Hitler's grandstand "F*** Nazis".
[/IMG]
The central courtyard of the Congress Hall. Hitler planned to build a second huge stadium here, but it was never completed.

This central courtyard is twice the size of the Colosseum in Rome.

Whilst we were visiting, a German man struck up conversation with me. He said something very wise; that as long as humans are ruled by their hearts rather than their heads, we will carry on repeating the same mistakes. Very true words.
