Hi everyone,
As my first post, I would like to share with you my visit to the old mining area of Rio Tinto, in the province of Huelva, in Andalucia (south Spain). Since I was living in Malaga (my home city), I went there for a photographic weekend with the amateur photography group that we created with a group of friends and we had a great time.
This is an impressive complex of mining areas that is worth a visit if you are around. It was been used for decades since the XIX century, but was finally abandoned and now gives a really stunning landscape. Due to the high content of iron, the water became reddish. You can drive around for hours or days and you will not stop spotting abandoned factories, railroads, open mines and red water streams and ponds. It is also a great place for night photography (see some of my pics below).
More detailed information in wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rio_Tinto_(river) ), but ask whatever you want to know and I can try to answer.
Some pics:
Some more pictures in my Rio Tinto Gallery:
Cheers!
Alberto
