RedX_unleashed;345136 it appears that the guy is an employee of Cardiff Council who was working with others as part of a survey team viewing a national rail bridge that needed repairs. With so many organisations involved said:
National rail bridges are not the responsibility of Local Councils - Road bridges over running lines, yes, but the most recent proper survey I know about was in 2016. However; sadly this is just another fatal accident involving scaffolding used during demolition of old unstable buildings. Sudden partial collapse of wall bringing down the scaffold attached to/against it, which is why we like to use long reach machinery, if possible, during demolition works. Branch of my family own a large demolition company and I am ex BRB. On a H&S note one has to ask; if there was no demolition company staff on site, how did the deceased know what the actual stability situation of the building was? I will not say the accident was totally preventable, even on the most controlled demolition sites accidents happen, but I do wonder in this case. Let's hope lessons are learnt from this very sad incident.
