Selly Oak Hospital (exterior only!) March '15

Evening all,

I was up in the land of Brum a few weeks ago visiting a friend who goes to the university. As he lives in Selly, he rather kindly took me down the road to the hospital.
'We're not going in there, though. I don't want to be imprisoned on a Saturday morning.'
Still, here's the exterior of the place. The history has been posted elsewhere, but it was closed in 2012 when the Queen Elizabeth Hospital opened (thanks Wikipedia). "It was announced on 24 February 2015 that contracts had been exchanged for the sale and redevelopment of residential housing on the site. The site already had outline planning permission for 650 homes" (Wiki). So now you know...
PS Any pictures which don't have bars accross them were taken through the bars at a distance, I didn't enter the site at any stage.

If anyone can provide any more information as to the layout of the hospital, it'd be much appreciated. I couldn't work out if we were at the back or front or underneath most of the time!








Why brick up all the windows and doors when you can do just a few, eh?

Ended up on the Birmingham Walk of Fame without realising it. I think old Roy's fairly derelict, isn't he?

Cheers, I hope you enjoyed the above. Our little trip was followed by a walk around the exterior of the Cadbury factory, you could actually smell the chocolate in the air. Very weird. But nice. Weird but nice.

Spent a bit of time there myself, only visiting though and it was amazing for the rehabilitation.

Such a shame that Government deem it correct to close such a helpful place down. It truly is heartbreaking!

Thanks for your pictures, it was a heart warming trip down memory lane again.

Oh blimey I was in there on monday afternoon collecting the old stand by generators , and had a chat with the one secca guard about urbexing and urbexers
Him and his gaffers arent too keen about folk who wander in off the streets and take photo's , so thought I hadnt better ask him if i could nip off and get some pictures
