Ok so i was doing a bit of research on web for severals (everybody knows it) and have been finding a couple for stories this year of explorers being prosecuted now. Can anybody on here shed some light on this matter as i wanted another trip there, as i heard its in the process of being sold to a developer. Wanted a last hit there but a bit scared of being caught now lol.

Copied from the web:
A 20-year-old man was given 40 hours of unpaid work, fined almost £200 and given a one year probation order at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on February 23 after being prosecuted for trespassing on the site on February 7.

I saw this as well, was meant to be going last week but had to cancel it. From what I read, they had kids and a pregnant woman with them? I'd imagine it was that reason or they damaged something, but I'm none the wiser either and will avoid it for the time being.

Yeah its a big shame really cuz ive only explored half the place really and wanted to go n continue from where it ended last time.

Well he wouldn't have been prosecuted for trespassing as it's not a criminal offence, so there's more to the story that you've quoted.

The prosecution was supported by the police apparently and the secca are ready to jump on anyone setting foot on the place cause it's costing the NHS a fortune to keep us nosy gits out and safe.

Could you quote your sources? Otherwise it's just a game of he said she said which is pointless and meaningless.

Newspapers are not known for their accuracy. He was not prosecuted for trespassing.

The security company are making lots of noise to scare people off, and apparently it's working. ;)

East Anglian Daily Times, maybe I should have highlighted APPARENTLY

So the answer to the original question is no they're not prosecuting people for trespass.

Full details of the law relating to trespass can be found here.

We had this discussion and we decided it's really poor journalism. .i know a few people who have been caught there in the last few weeks.and Michael was his usual friendly self..hundreds have been caught there.and nothing been done..I think it was more likely he was causing criminal damage...There was a woman who is suing the trust for an accident.but personally I would not trust the press as krela says they do tend to twist stories a bit.

It certainly is scare tactics..I know they have upped there security to twenty four hours now. .

The person in question was prosecuted for apparently using a crowbar to lever open the fence to gain access, and was caught with said crowbar in his possession on site.

My thoughts exactly..and to be honest he deserves what he gets..but no one has ever been prosecuted for taking honest photos.
