This lovely (still operational) lighthouse is in the seaside town of Southwold. I never miss the chance to go to the top whenever I find them :)

Controlled by Trinity House in Harwich, this fantastic building is due for closure in 2010 :(

Beautiful. I am reading a history of lighthouses at the moment, they are amazing structures. Wonder why its closing?

Neosea, that's a great looking lighthouse. Where is that one to?

That one is in the Long Island sound, close to Hart Island almost in the entrance to the east river. There are a few similar light houses close to this one. One of them has chains where us English used to chain up prisoners at low tide. When high tide came, that was the end of the prisoners. The chains are still there. I have a photo somewhere.

The lighthouse looks immaculately well kept and very clean....i hope it is preserved as well as this after its closure. Lovely building and some excellent clear pictures Neosea.
