Putting this here 'cause it's not derelict but attached to a derelict site & this is for all those of you who have seen this & wondered what it's like inside.
Chapel built & consecrated in 1878. In 1953 it was renovated & 2 artists were commissioned to revamp the somber interior. Henry Bird & G.H.B. Holland did a really interesting set of murals on the walls & maybe all the work on the ceiling & rafters (my information doesn't cover that bit). Anyway when the Psychiatric Hospital ceased functioning the Chapel had no use so in 1998 it was bought by the Greek Orthodox community and re-named Church of St Neophytos the Recluse.
So I'm parked outside and a blacked out SUV rolls in and parks & I'm thinking that Mikeymutt & Rubex have a posh ride but no. A bloke gets out and goes to the door with....... keys!
So I rushed over and asked if I could take photos & he was OK with it. Thought he was the maintenance man but he was actually Chairman of the Greek Orthodox Community of Northampton! - they have services every alternate Sunday as the congregation is rather thin on the ground.
I've sent him a set of pictures for his use and he is well pleased as he hasn't got a decent camera. Looks like they need all the help they can get keeping this place intact as there is a huge crack in the back wall that has recently re-opened. So sometimes Urbexing gets to pay it forward - made me feel good anyway!
Enough waffle - on with the pictures.

Note 2 doors - Female & Male separate entrances
