Won't post a history as it has been done many times before on here....Just to say that the Asylum closed down in 1990 and was sold a few years later to a property developer, who constructed nearly 1,000 new houses in the village. The original hospital buildings are classified as Grade III listed buildings and are protected from demolition.
Visited with my daughter after seeing so many reports on here about it, got to say that despite it being an interesting visit the place is seriously falling apart and is very dangerous in places, would go as far as to say lethal in some of the rooms upstairs, a couple of places the floor was giving way underneath our feet.
