I believe that this church has had a few reports done on it before but it's just around the corner from where I live so I thought it would be worth the trip.
I'm not sure when it was built but its a pretty strange design; it doesn't conform to any Anglican architecture I've seen and it feels too grand for a non-conformist church.
When we got onto the site it was clear that the owner has started to clear it and they have started some levelling works outside the front of the building. My mate who was the guide for the day said that there also used to be some kind of truck at the back which also seems to have disappeared. I'm not sure how much longer this place will be standing as its a prime location for housing.
The church as approached from the side entrance.
A shot from the back showing off the nice bell tower.
This is the back window, apparently this used to hold stained glass.
Inside the main hall.
The same hall but a little later when the light came streaming through the windows.
The light gave the place a whole new atmosphere compared to when we first entered.
Out of the three of us I was the only one slight enough to get up the spiral stairs that go up the bell tower. This shot is taken about half the way up the steps.
I believe that this is where the bell used to hang.
The very top of the tower, I think I counted 5 storeys before I got up here!
Looking down from the tower onto the back of the church.
The view back down the valley.
These next few shots are of the stairs at the back of the main hall. The first flight dropped down a few steps, then split into two and came back on the first flight which then came together into another flight going down under the first.
I took a few shots on the large format cam as well so I hope to add those sometime in the week.
Thanks for looking.
