St Luke's Hosptial
The hospital started its shutdown in 2007 and finally fully closed to public on 22nd December 2010.
It provided Neurological rehabilitation, associated Occupational Therapy, post Cardiac disease rehabiliatation, a renal unit and a number of residential wards.
Based around the buildings of the former workhouse situated on a slope, the site is stepped with many level changes. A three storey 1960's cruciform of 200m long glazed corridors serve and link the more modern sections to the Victorian conversions.
When I first got into photographing derelict buildings, it was because of seeing other people's shots of Hospitals & Asylums, for one reason or another I seem to have neglected these types of explores, so I decided 2013 would be the year I got to see as many as I can, starting off with St Luke's, which as everyone knows is one hell of a derpy derp site, but It's a hospital and local, so I decided to get it checked off the list...2 years too late!
