St Mary The Virgin Church
Last year along a trip to wales, I had located this wonderful old church ruin, not knowing of its history or its urban legends, I just wanted to see it and enjoy the views, such a peaceful place to walk let alone admire its construction or remaining construction be it the case, the graveyards are rather beautiful even if left unattended while the church itself is of beautiful construction, it is looked after and maintained to some extent.
St Marys church dates back into medieval times, it stands on the site of a medieval chapel, built as a retreat for monks of Tinten Abbey. It was rebuilt in 1866-1868 and remained part of the parish church till 1972. The church was destroyed by fire in 1977 surrounded by speculation that youths started the fire, an one may have died, then again this could be a myth, but a fire did break out none the less.
As like many church ruins, speculation of witchcraft, black magic and rituals all have happened here, local legends or urban legends often surround the fire itself, along with teenagers and Ouija boards.
On with the photos!
Well thats your lot, I enjoyed my walk around here despite the slippery hill and muddy banks!
