Some pics from a recent reccee with Peacock. The site is huge, took over an hour and a half just to walk the site. Hardly any damage with just the odd broken window here and there. Its impressive. The hospital its self is secure, but were going back in the future. There are numbers sprayed all over the place, surveyors! Not sure what there for. Some areas are being cleared of scrub, so looks like there going to start work pretty soon. Basements are there, but are all flooded to the ceiling! The social club in the grounds is in a sorry state, with the roof collapsed. But if you look at the photo of the bar there are still drinks under the counter, looks like Castaway! Probably 10 years out of date though!!!!

Its been about before, but the reports were on the site before it was revamped and are probably archived. In fact you may have heard of it as St. Mary's, Stannington - although Stannington is about two miles away, North Saltwick is barely a farmstead.

No1rich,
You are spot on, it is a very large site, even though none of the buildings are big in asylum terms. It is also one of the few places i have been that is also more or less untouched and just been left to decay. Not surprising as it is miles from anywhere really.
In fact, i took three almost the same three photos back in October 2004, it shows how little has changed in three and a half years!

Haha, that picture of you on the autopsy table is great.

I keep meaning to post mine. I'll get round to that soon.

I am SO looking forward to going back, though, and getting in this time. I'm still buzzing about how untouched that place is.

We should go back soon. :)

Great report. St Mary's is in mint condition compared to Cherry Knowle because of a combination of better security and it being out of range chav activity.
