There has been a church and cemetery here for 600 years, the church is still open and burials continue in part of this extensive site, although the new graves may cut through older ones.
One of the unusual things here is the double coffin stone.
As far as I am aware there are only two remaining in Cornwall, needed of course because mining accidents often claimed multiple lives’
The oldest datable grave I saw was this one,
a lot of graves (especially the ones without stone markers) are lost in the undergrowth.
But each spring they get new flowers on them.
A wooden Celtic cross, the inscription is indecipherable, the cross itself is deteriorating more with each passing year.
A much more ordered part of the cemetery,
Most of it is like this.
Or worse.
Quite nice really.
.
There are many, many, interesting stones and monuments at this delightful and picturesque place, far too many post, so I’ll end with this one, it’s in a quiet corner of the cemetery,
Not a grave but a celebration!!
Thanks for Looking
