With a promise of some strange artifacts, and most of all a decaying iron lung we set off for Stracathro Hospital. When we arrived, the site layout was very different to how i had envisaged it. Single storey buildings, spread out across a rambling site and a dilapidated manor house in the distance. Somewhat reminded me of 'Law' but in much better condition.

We entered the first block, much of which was still in very good condition and only minimally stripped out. I even tried a light at one point and it pinged into action!

my camera battery was on its last legs, so time was of the essence in locating the sinister lung. Havoc called us over....

Visited with Kate, Havoc, Lost and Jaff Fox.

pictures aren't great, i was fighting to force the camera to take 'one last shot'!

I've been there as a patient. I won't say what I was getting done but it involved a scalpel, a crochet hook and wearing loose trousers for the next few days.

Did you go to the Stracathro Services? The cafe/shop bit is like stepping into the 1970s, apart from the prices. I've a feeling they even have tomato shaped sauce bottles.

Great photos Lost.

My first horse came from the woman who owns the service station. :)

Just a random piece of useless information. :D

What the hell is that...?

As the name suggests the Iron Lung is an early respiration machine, Some people have lived in them All their lives there are still working examples around the world.

Theres an old article about the use of on in the UK here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/3182096.stm

Ps. Marlon, It looks like you had a great trip to scotland!

There's some really strange looking contraptions in those pictures. One of them looks like it secures someones head! Did you have a go on any of the trolleys? Looks like its still structurally in good condition.
