I dunno if this is the correct forum to ask this on, but can anyone tell me what the strange complex of buildings is on the south bank of the River Thames just a little way east of Gravesend.

It is all clearly visible in Google Earth 'Birdseeye View' and panning acorss the complex reveals some strange sights.

At first I though the complex was either a borstal or a prision, but looking closer there is the fuselage of a reasonably modern jet passengeraircraft, minus its wings and tail fin. Close by to this is a Diesel Railway Locomotive and many strangge compounds. Bit like SAS training compounds.

My own thoughts are a joint services - test and evaluation centre

A specialised engineering college

Police & Fire training college.

Grid is TQ 672743 (approx)

it is a police training ground and rifle range BUT if you carry on down that track or walk along the saxon shore way you'll come to Shorne mead fort which was a fantastic place to explore till they started filling the tunnels! grrr! its also one of the oldest fort sites on the thames, if u carry on past Shorne you come to Cliffe fort which has been left for many many years and both are well worth a looksie. hope this is of interest to you?
