Whilst in the area i thought ide sweep by and have a quik peep at the old girl and see whats happening there..last time i went there which was quite recently the were diggers, portocabins and allsorts in the bottom car park and workmen busy scrapping away at the carpark surface so i presumed work had began but only on the out skirts of her...the main buildings remained the same although alot of the beautiful corridor floors had fallen through due to the rain and the main hall was slowly being stripped even more, the laundry and store room area and cellars where bolted tightly, she really looked in a sorry state and ive visited her many times over the years now but that time in particular was quite sad...Any way..this time the was no sign of diggers or portocabins all was quite...the guard dog is still there still looking very dirty wet and sad penned in day and nite..Scattered through out the place the are fresh signs now with BEWARE YARD DOG written on them..whilst i wandered about the perimiter the man whom we have come to know as " The Talgarth Driller" came marching down the road with his own two dogs in toe......now i have already had a run in with this man as he drilled all four of my tyres on my car once, i was one of three unfortunates hes done this too and police where involved but thats another story.,.. As usual he was his rude obnoxious self demanding i leave and telling me i had no busness there flayling his arms around..so i reminded him that i have as much right to be there as he does..the front drive way is a public right of way and any one can drive and walk on it..and i intended to sit down eat my sarnies take photos and stay all day if i please...;) so we sat down and did exactly that much to his dispair..it was pouring with rain but we sat there knowing dam well he wouldnt leave until we did..He then started on about the dog signs..saying you do know that the dog roams about here and will "av us" if we go in the buildings..i told him we had no intentions of going in the buildings( which i actually didnt that day) and how can a guard dog be a yard dog too?? his answer was this.. "the dog is a guard dog whilst penned in...and a yard dog whilst loose roaming the grounds...so if hes roaming round in the buildings and has you its your own fault you been warned.."... By now we wer actually getting wet and late for where we wanted to be so just got up and went... He did actually get us thinking on this one though...Am i right in thinking this...You are bound obviously by certain laws and regulations with a GUARD DOG and who ever owns it or hires it would have to adhere to them and how the dog is handled if it should have to be used ever..but if the signs warning you say YARD DOG then does that mean a dog can free roam a building and its grounds and the are no consequences if the dog actually bites some one..? im rather confused on this one, any ideas any one?....Yard dog..Guard dog whats the difference ..hmmm...

I keep meaning to go back up here, I had a small run in with him before but he decided to back off.

To be honest, I don't think that dog will do much damage anyway, We have given her treats and toys in the past, she wags her tail and even had a small lick.

I'm not sure what the difference is between the two but who is the bloke? He's not security so what right does he have to keep a dog in the grounds? He refused to tell me last time :-(

i know shes a lovely dog but this time i threw her a few bits and she was just barking and jumping at the fencing...like she was going stir crazy..totally different than previous visits..the bloke lives behind the altzimers place up that track to the side..he looks after the place and runs his sheep along the back of the place..he holds the keys to the gates and feeds the guard dog..vile man.

She's probably scared of people now. I have dogs myself and it's a shame to see them being treated so badly, leaving a dog to run around a site covered in glass and asbestos...Just fantastic! I think there should be a mass visit up there - would throw him right off guard! I can see him turning into a new version of Mr Beardy very soon!

Thank you for the update, very good of you. I'll have to pay the old girl another visit very soon. You are right about the GUARD dog and the rules the owner should stick to. I don't think it would do much harm, as it always seems to be penned in and never roaming anyway.
What a grumpy old sod that man is, never actually run into him myself though!

the area she is in is rite next to the boiler room too and she can run free throughout the old paint/plant areas..and those are the areas most at risk from asbestos..its just wrong..:( as for a mass visit count me in!

ive never seen it out only on one occasion when she first came there and she was chained in the middle of the grounds with a small kennel to live in...then when she had pups they took her away and with in a month or so she was back still heavily full of milk with no puppies and penned where she is now..:(

Yet another jumped up idiot with a little grasp of the law gone to his head.
A great location for some video footage for Ry lol
Already stated yard dog is dangerous yet free roamiming the cps would have a field day as the dog is not on public land yet and defo not SIA accredited.
Secca on the cheap caretaker gone barking lol
They set a stage and a wrong one in the eyes of the law.
Just don’t be confrontational with them quote the law film everything as evidence and if need be protect Ur self minimum force and call the police ASAP.
Anyways he looks old enough to be my grandad bless him.
Hey Kitten remember the mastiff cross at Walthamstow dogs lol now that was a puppy built like a bull

Maybe report it to the RSPCA? Not sure what can be done but I am sure that is classed as cruelty? Will see what we can do about a mass visit - Not been for a while so is it still enterable? Ignoring the dog of course lol!

Does anyone know the name of the house the farmer lives in? Can hardly say 'He lives in the old isolation part of the hospital' to the RSPCA

HOSPITAL?

Yes, a former mental institution
