It's been a while since I visited this gem of a mansion, some 6 months nearly. It was touch & go getting permission but when I showed the owner my work they did let me in. Anyway here is a rather unusual view of this lost treasure -

A visit to Tegfynydd had been on my list for sometime after capturing all the other derelict mansions in the county. I honestly thought I'd seen it all but nothing whatsoever could prepare me for the unique vision that I had stumbled upon. Totally hidden from the road & virtually invisible on Google Earth this really is a treasure. It has seen better days, the roof has gone, the floors have fallen to the cellar below and only the week before one of the chimney's had fallen in to the house but I suppose this adds to the charm of the place. I walked around the outside of the building with the farm cat as company. The rear of the property is over looked by the old farm that the owners live in; from this side the house still looked rather invisible due to the tree cover. Once through the get the scale of the house unfolded. There is amazing detail around the windows etc but this is nothing compared to the front elevation, amazing & a real treat to see but that was nothing compared to the interior of the house. Inside there are not too many rooms but the main hall is both impressive in size & features. Looking up you see the sky, looking down & clearing a little of the rubble you will see an amazing mosaic floor that looks virtually intact. There are iron angle brackets at what would have been the ceiling level & on one wall the awesome fireplace, something like you cannot imagine. Looking at the remaining structure it would not surprise me if the tolls of another hard Welsh winter would finish the building off once & for good, I really hope not as this really is a rare & magical place.
