This former German village which is now in Poland, houses an amazing church, Probably the best small church I have ever seen, and I bet when it was in use it looked magical!

The church was constructed from 1796-1797 and was designed by Carl Gotthard Langhans (who also designed Brandenburg Gate).

It was abandoned after WWII when Germans had to leave the area. It has not been used since (nor has any other German built church in Poland). There is another church in the village that is used today.

Looks small but your photo's make it look huge inside, Tardis comes to mind. No doubt the locals would not use it because of who built it and the memory of what happed during the war.

I think it is more the religion of the church, the church was originally Evangelical & the most of Polish are Roman Catholics.

Awesome! Are there lots of these unused German churches in Poland? Wonder who the owners would be?

There are quite a few, in fact virtually all the towns and villages we visited had something abandoned but we didn't have time to stop and visit everything!

I think they are owned by the local council.

An awesome church, looks like the roof may not last too much longer! Well done for getting the pics from the first floor, it looks sturdy but not if you know what I mean! Excellent set of pics, thanks for sharing

I'm usually fine with heights but the 2nd (highest) floor I couldn't even stand on, a proper butterflies moment!!
