Another site from my last euro trip. This huge site sits nestled in a town, passersby seemingly ignoring it as they walk past. Once a major employer in the area, it eventually closed down when the operation was moved elsewhere. If rumours are to be believed its closure was singlehandedly responsible for a brief drop in quality for the manufacturer. It sited that the fact only a handful of the 600+ employees chose to relocate to the new site as being the reason drop in product quality.

No way … it's still standing? There's something I really like about the shots I've seen from here, yours included. I'd planned to visit the cookie factory before Covid but ran out of time on that trip, then forgot about it as I assumed it would have been long since demo'd by now. Thanks very much for the update, half tempted to go and book a flight tonight..

Yep the factory’s owners made a famous brand of cookies (famous in Germany that is). You still see them for sale in Germany and also the Balkan countries.

Thanks. When I was in West Germany in the 1960s I enjoyed the various types of bread I ate at guest house meals.
Slightly off topic, but the best hotel breakfasts I've ever had while exploring were at Landhotel Gustav, which is the hotel bang in the middle of Beelitz, out from Berlin. @Cuban B. will remember the massive spread of breads, pastries, meats and cheeses, we stocked up each day before we headed into the sanatorium…

My time was when I was in West Germany in the army in 1961 and 1962, and was exploring various railways ansd tramways, some in operation, some defunct. I'd find small places to stay at over weekends. Yes - both the breads and cheeses were good. At the time in the UK it was white bread or Hovis, and Cheddar cheese or blue vein, and that was it. I also enjoyed soda bread on my travels around the island of Ireland, again looking at railways that were in use or closed or being closed.
