I'm coming up a bit blank on this one guys, sorry! From what we can work out, this pub/restaurant/B&B had been in and out of business on and off for a good number of years. There's a decent review of the place on Trip Advisor from 2016, but then nothing before that after 2011. A review on 'Pubs Galore' in 2012 states the following;
"The friendly landlady explained that the pub had been closed for a while, re-opening a week ago. Prior to that it had a somewhat chequered history, being open as often as it was closed. It's currently for sale, and she works for a holding company who are just looking after it prior to it being sold. Whilst obviously not wanting to spend too much money on it, there are plans to put a pool table and darts board in the smaller room and start offering a basic food offering such as pies. One of the potential buyers apparently has plans to make it a ticketed venue with events such as live music, drag queens and lots of neon lights***, consequently it's future as a pub is somewhat uncertain. With only about a dozen punters having been in since it re-opened it's clearly not sustainable in it's present form and is only kept going by the attached B&B business"
*** This may explain the limo in the car park with neon pink upholstery!
There's a video on Youtube of a chap 'exploring' this place in July 2019. The downstairs looks a lot cleaner back then, whilst the upstairs is in exactly the same condition as we found it today.. Except for the Christmas tree, which has been taken out of its box and put up on display, weirdly.. !? We found a letter dated December 2015, stating there were some 'issues' for the people involved and that these were a matter for the local Council. We also found a letter stating the place had failed recent fire safety regulations.
Explore;
A lovely relaxed hour or so with the girlfriend, exploring the *VERY* trashed pub and limo and the not quite so trashed upstairs flat and adjoining B&B rooms. The sheer amount of stuff in this place is amazing; it's like a cross between a store and a junkyard. It's also very sad because it makes me feel as if whoever left this place, did so against their will and was forced to do so very suddenly, possibly even around Christmas time...
All the best,
Fluffy.
