The sacred church..wales

We visited this old disused church.sat in the middle of a few houses I have struggled to find any info on it.i can gather it's not been in use for several years now.the church itself is stunning.simple in design.but loved the ceiling.the floor tiles.the organ was one of the nicest I have seen,the solid heavy funeral cart.there was even an old style collection box.i am sure rubex will find some info on it,she is better at that sort of thing than me

This has to be one of the nicest small churches I've seen.The coffin carrier and large wooden box {bible box?} are quite something!

Very nice set of photographs - glad to see that this place is still well looked after.

The heavy wooden chest was originally used for keeping both the bible and the church silver - the Chalice etc - safe. Obviously in the early days of printed books, a printed and decorated bible would have been a very costly item - probably given to the Church by the local Squire or landowner, it obviously needed keeping safe. These old chests were deliberately made large and heavy so that stealing them would be difficult.
