High on the hills above Sheffield, and now very derelict sits.....

Thornseat Lodge

Built in 1855 as a shooting lodge for wealthy steelmaker William Jessop (b.1804). Was turned into a children's home in the 1930s. It closed in the early 80s and has been left to rot ever since. In 1994 planning was turned down to make it into 8 secure units. All the floors and stairs have collapsed although there is a rickety fire escape and some old scaffolding up at the back which it would have been rude not to climb............
