Tried this place a year ago but was no obvious access so we waited for the inevitable to happen! was a shame but the place is well out there now so thought it may as well be posted!

The House was built in 1888 by Lord and Lady Daresbury – it was originally used as a hunting and shooting lodge and was sold and lived in by many different families over the years until the current owner decided it would be a fantastic and beautiful wedding venue.

Tilstone House is a luxury wedding venue. It has a Victorian style exterior and many traditional features within, such as fireplaces, staircases, flooring and the tall ceilings, have all been maintained but we have undergone a recent refurbishment to make it more current and contemporary without it being too modern, so it lends itself to all styles of weddings.

On the face of it this place looks in great condition but it really is a game of 2 halves!

In Jan 2020 the local news reports were thus.

Shortly before 8.30pm firefighters were called to reports of a fire at Tilstone near Tarporley.
Four crews were initially dispatched to the scene and on arrival they found a large 19th century timber frame mansion well alight.
Upon initial investigations firefighters found that the fire had spread to all three floors of the building.
Due to the scale of the fire an addition six fire engines were dispatched to the scene, along with an aerial ladder platform from Chester.
The fire was later said to be caused by an electrical fault but the venue never reopened.

Thanks to my non member mate for some of the pics as due to recent events I was using phone in here!

Tilston House was built by Sir Gilbert Greenall, for his son twenty-first birthday present. His son was a keen hunts man, and tried to become Master of Hunt. This was not to be, so in 1896, he was ask to become Master of the Belvoir Hunt, so sold Tilstone House, and built Waltham House, in Leicestershire, with all the facilities a Master of the Belvoir Hunt would need. He became First Lord Daresbury in 1927. His son Edward (born 1902) or Toby became Master of the Belvoir Hunt and 2nd Lord Daresbury.

In 1966 I was one of the grooms looking after the Belvoir Hunt horses, in very Victorian surroundings at Woolsthorpe by Belvoir.
