This is a place Gangeox and Myself have wanted to do for a long time, with Gangeox's ribbs still on the mend a nice easy explore was called for.

Torr Vale Mill is a derelict cotton mill. It is located at New Mills, Derbyshire. It is sited on a small rocky island at the bottom of the Torr's gorge in a bend of the River Goyt.

Located in the deep gorge below New Mills, it is the last standing cotton mill in the gorge. The mill is the only factory to have remained a cotton mill through out its working life in the country.

New Mills town, once know as Bowden Middle Cale, benefited from an industrial boom in the 1790's with many new mills being built. The site of Bowden Middle Cale was chosen because two rivers met here, the Goyt and the Sett and sadly the towns former name is now almost forgotten.

I got some good outside pictures when I did a walk in the area about 18 months ago.

Good stuff Neosea, I have always liked this site - and having the Swizzels factory in the background has got to be a bonus!

Nice shots.

Great to see some pics from here again, it's a great place to spend a few hours, the worlds oldest mill building in continuous use as a mill at time of closure, so i read.
must get back there again for another look. oh, and hope the ribs are better soon, Gangeox!

Always enjoyed seeing pics of this site. Cool photos, Neo. Love the painted metal wall supports (?)...and the mill race, etc. :)

Thanks Foxy.
