Trill Mill reversed egg shaped culvert - under Oxford's Westgate Shopping Centre.
Originally built as a medieval sewer.
I have left this one for way to long but that is due to the fact it is not the cleanest of culverts.
As we entered the stream we noticed the water was bubbling and stunk of rotten eggs. This is due to stagnant water and the stream is not flowing leaving trapped air under the debris in the water.
But we was wrong it was only part of it which had this problem, therefore we carried on wading through the thick mud in the depths of Trill Mill.
Its said T E Lawrence of Arabia navigated his way through the culvert in 1909.
Trill mill stream was culverted in 1863.
Then we got to a modern box shaped culvert which runs underneath the newly built Westgate Shopping Centre.
