Well i was in the area and thought i'd pay it a visit, not the best conditions, damp and drizzle.

Been posted quite a few times so will keep it brief.

History
Apparently Mr Ratte made his fortune in the Electronics Industry, one night after a furious row with his Wife, Mr Ratte decided to set fire both of the houses, it is said that he tried to prevent the fire brigade from obtaining access by blocking the drive with cars. They then had to slowly make their way through the fields. By the time they got there it was to late to save the buildings.

Whitefileds was totally destroyed and bulldozed into the swimming pool.

Brilliant post jsp77. I visited here when I first started back in May last year and loved it; there's so much to see. The walk up to it is lovely too I saw an array of wildlife and a fox with a rabbit in his mouth!

Funny you say that, I was planning on an urbex/nature shoot up here sometime soon. I saw about 10 muntjac while on a recce.
