Fine set of pictures there, I like your use of light.

I must get back to have a look at what, if anything, remains!

I visited at the beginning of May this year, mostly just walking around a housing estate with bits of interesting architecture here and there. To be fair, they've done a good job on the retained wards but there's really not much to see. Here's a short list of what's left:

  • The mortuary/old path. labs (well secured, rumoured to have been cleared inside)
  • The tower (waiting to be converted)
  • Scott House (tightly boarded up)
  • Gardner House (Empty but not derelict)
  • Staff Social Club (derelict)
  • c.6 Airing court shelters (Restored)
  • Small toilet block on the edge of the Cottage Hospital Car Park (derelict)
  • Remains of gas pipeline (derelict)
  • Cottage Hospital, Rosebery, Garden Dept., Burnham, Farmside, Woodside, The Meadows (Still in use)
  • Janeford, Frinton, Parklands/Lexford, Clinton/Cranford/Denton/Dartford, Abington/Ashford/Barton/Burford, Admin, Blake/Chaucer/Darwin/Mayford, Boswell/Cavendish/Drummond/Manston, Emerson/Pharmacy, Public Health/New Path. Labs, Kipling (Converted)

Anything else has been demolished, I'm afraid. The latest Google Earth imagery also gives a pretty good idea of what's left.

Last time I looked (3-4 weeks ago) the mortuary door was still wide open but the place has been stripped. Really nothing left to see in there apart from the freezers. Planning application went in a couple of weeks ago for its demolition.
