Just wondering if anyone has any ideas as to what this building could have been? It's a one room square building with a wall around the back with about a two foot space between the building and the outer wall, then there is another higher wall set further back which was impossible to get close to due to the overgrowth. There are no other buildings around it, and it's very close to the sea. Any ideas?

It's not any standard type of searchlight / emplacement building. If you could give a map reference it would be much easier to tell you.

It's not on the defence of britain database, which doesn't entirely rule it out as military, but makes it hard to identify.

I had originally thought maybe it was a mining building. We have lots of them on the island, although none that look exactly like this, but as far as I can tell there were none in that area. Manx Mines gives a pretty good account of all the old mine works on the island and I can't see anything mentioned in that area.

There is a quarry at the top of the footpath and across the road, but it's much newer than this building. I'll have to see if there were any other quarries in the area :)

I can't definitely say it is mining connected but we have a few similar here in Cornwall and they all differ, I love to see more mining remains from there, I enjoyed your post, Many Thanks.
