This looks like an essential buy....

Wild Ruins Book - Wild Things Publishing

"Discover and explore Britain’s extraordinary history through its most beautiful lost ruins. From crag-top castles to crumbling houses in ancient forests, and ivy-encrusted relics of industry to sacred places long since returned to nature. Including over 250 ruins and 28 maps."

i have bought this book, i haven't had a full look through it yet but there are some nice images and some good info in there

If it's the one I'm thinking of we had some "interesting" discussions with the author when he was trying to research it.

Good luck to him though, looks like a quality book, although I still question the wisdom of tour guides.

Ordered Tuesday and copy arrived today so put it straight into action. Yes - it is a bit tour-guidey. It covers EH/officially open sites/sites that are abandoned but commonly accessible and some what we would consider to be urbex sites. It's got a lot of useful info in and is really useful for those of us that have kids and need to do 'child friendly' explores from time to time. Certainly a useful addition to the information resources and one that I will use. At £17.95 inc P&P you can't grumble at the price either.
