Willington Cooling Towers - September 2013

This is an increasingly popular site, but deservedly so. I have always wanted to see a cooling tower up close, and this was far too good an opportunity to miss. I started planning my visit as soon as I saw PaulPowers post a while back.

There are five cooling towers, two of which are bare shells and three have the interior structure still present, so you get a good idea of how it works.

Standing inside the bare shell of a cooling tower is an awesome experience and there is a real beauty in the very delicvate curving shell rising up.

I would strongly recommend visiting this site while the chance is available.
