Willington Power Station Weighbridge

"All thats left of willington is the cooling towers" Is what i would hear frequently, until you have a look in the over grown north west corner and a small weighbridge building remains....

Like the pic of the towers, I really can't put my finger on what makes these towers so interesting for me I have seen many but they still have a wow factor for me (especially when close up) thanks for sharing

like the pics of the weighbridge and the weighbridge building, not seen any of those before. its looks very atmosperic with both the pictures being taken in black and white, and the frost on everything. Like it very much. Love the pics of the cooling towers, on the last pic.

Strangely for me, the thing I like about the towers is their inane ability to host peregrine falcons, who use them as "cliffs" when they are not near the sea. That and the appealing shape, which somehow makes them less of a bolt on the landscape than other things. Drakelow Power Station lost its towers recently (and probably its peregrines).

Yeah willington had peregrins for years i dont know if they still nest there thou
