Hi! went to Hellingly Mental Asylum (I understand that its actually called Amberstone Hospital) a couple of weeks ago, its actually the first place I've explored, seems a fair few have gone before me however it seemed like the logical place to start (not to far from home, plenty of info available about security, getting in etc,) none of which we actually had any problems with, despite being midday on a monday! in fact the only other people we saw were a gorgeous blonde and her parents going in as we were coming out! Anyway, ramblings aside here are the best of the photos I took, I did take a lot more however i've rooted through and selected what I think are the most interesting.
What really amazed me is the size of the place, we thought we'd explored a huge area but when looking on google maps I realised that the area we'd walked through was tiny in comparison to the vastness of the place, aparently, in its heyday it had its own railway station and branch line, water supply, and could be pretty much self sufficient for long periods of time and speaking to one of the older blokes at work I was told that when he was young, Amberstone hostpital was the place that his parents threatened to send him if he was naughty and that the name was synonomous with 'things that weren't quite right'
