Reins Mill, Honley – Feb 2016

This lovely 3 storey mill is located in the village of Honley. There isn’t much history of this but I have found little bits on other reports.
The village as with many in the area were dotted with these nice little textile mill. Allegedly cloth making has taken place in Honley since the 11th Century.

Very little remains regarding the company itself within the building apart from a Certificate of Incorporation in 1960 establishing itself as a LTD Company. Information of the companies activities are also limited, but it is thought that they wove and/or sold rugs, there are some bits and pieces of really old looms in the loft space but not an awful lot else.
It seems that the company only operated for 15 years until it was wound up. Reports of liquidation from 1975 and even fire certificates from 1979 remain inside. Later history points to an M.O.T centre/garage place which closed in 2008.
