Love the photo of Severn Sands - it's a belter.

I don't know if you have her details but in case you don't, she's a suction dredger of 550 gt (665 dwt), built in 1960 by Scheepswerf Westerbroek, Westerbroek, Netherlands as yard number 158. She was launched as Iscas, becoming Le Ferlas in 1977 and taking her present name in 1995. As far as I can tell, she is technically still in service although she looks a bit neglected in the photo.

She has been moored in fremington quay for about 3-4 years. Much discussed in the local press. Reckoned to be full of chemicals etc. Apparently difficult to trace who actually owns her. Nearly lost when she dropped her mooring and drifted off up the river during high tides about a year ago. Probably worth a look inside!

Ah yes, now that you mention it, I remember that incident. Similar thing happened on the Humber a few weeks back. Fast Ann, lying at Barrow Haven awaiting scrapping was towed round to the breaker's yard at New Holland and grounded to await the start of work. Because she was technically grounded, it seems that nobody thought to moor her properly. Unfortunately her stern was hanging off the end of the berth and, on the next high tide, she floated off the berth and set off down river on her own, eventually fetching up against the oil terminal jetty at Immingham. Several arseholes were tweaking violently among the tug crews etc. :lol:

Ooooooooh excellent, I love these. Love seeing pics of derelict boats of all sizes and shapes, even though it's sad to see them like that.

I do so like a good derelict boat. I saw quite a number in Wells next the sea when on holiday last year, but got no pics cos my daughter leaned forward with the bag on her shoulder and the camera fell out on some rocks

Ouch! I can feel the pain from here.

There are lots of non-derelict (and some pretty broken down) boats and ships on my website if you are interested in having a roam around there.
