Visited with the missus, we wanted somewhere local and easy to go to. This is one trashed explore, and has seen many undesirable people since closure, and some sort of eccentric people as well, judging by the voodoo tea light arrangements.

The factory was run by Lear, who produced car interiors. 90 jobs were lost in the March 2005 closure of the Bicester site.

The only relatable thing found was a Ford Transit seat....

Nice pics there :)

I had to take a look at your Landy pics,,,,,,,,,,,, there's a rare beast ,,,S reg!!!!! My first was a '68 2a, it got full renovation,, then I stuck a Diahatsu Diesel in it,,,,,,,, then re-built it on a shortened Range Rover Chassis with the V8. Blew the engine up and then put the Diesel back in,,,,, then after 12 years ownership I lost my head and sold it!!!

Here I am on Salter's fell,,,,, they said it was impassable!!!,,,,,,,,9 miles from anywhere,,, on my own,,,,,,,sinking into the peat! it took me a while to to prise it out.. In the end I tied a recovery rope to the spare wheel,, pushed it into the peat and quickly hi-lifted off it. I used 6 gallons of fuel in 25 miles!!!! Happy days but I'm past it now,, and what was then an eccentric pastime is now a threatened and unpopular activity,,,,,, a bit like Urbex!!

Its not that rare lol theres thousands of them.

I just stuck a new engine in mine, another 2 and a quarter rover diesel as mine died. PM me if you wish

It's rare inasmuch as the ten years between '71 and '81 were bad for the British motor industry and in an attempt to cut costs, vehicles were being built with really crap steel,,,,,,,, underseal became more or less standard in an attempt to redress the problem by '82 - '83 ,,,,,,,, except on Landrovers of course.

2.25 D !!! ah well ,,,,,,, the advantage with those engines is that you always have an uninterrupted view of the road ahead ,,,,,,,unlike the queue of vehicles behind :)

I would never EVER under any circumstances put a 2.5 or a TDi in a series EVER!! it ruins them

,,,,,,,,,you are quite right,, leaf-sprung drum- braked landies are not at their best when trying to keep up with modern traffic. One of the aspects of my landy that I loved was that I knew it was going to get to it's destination,,,,,,,,,, not quickly or quietly,,,,, but inevitably :)

helllloo...how are you both! nice report..you managed to keep a hold of that cane latley??
