hello all.

as promised from my 'hello' in the intros forum here are some pics i took when i took a walk a few days ago around the footpath/perimeter of Cane Hill. only did the perimeter as i took the young kids with me plus my cousin and her dog, so we looked like dog walkers. we still got a 'hello' from security as they were by the cottage hospital as we went past but they were cool, they were saying that flats/houses will be eventually built there as well as some shops, or that is the plan. very nice and helpful and informative.

its so sad to see the place being demolished and this was my first ever visit there despite being obsessed with the place for years. that particular morning i was as excited as a kid at christmas!! id love to go back after dark but my stupid dog wont travel and my co walker from the other day works nights.

anyways here goes and hope its not too many. i took 91 and im trying to whittle them down. apologies for any duplicates, photobucket is being silly with me.

sorry for the length/amount of pics.

were you the one asking on 28dl about walking round the outskirts, i kow someone was and i posted a google earth of it

hope you got to see what you wanted to anyway :) and you saw more than me

Excellent pics. Like the one of admin with the car in front, shame thats there tho, but good shot, very clear. Not seen the changing rooms for the swimming pool before either, in fact, quite a lot of your pics are ones I haven't seen before.

Excellent work, I do like these. Always good to see the outside of buildings, it finishes the places off for me when you see both the inside and outside. Very well done.

thanks i appreciate that as they have been removed from another site.

I did say they were more laid back here than on certain other forums. :)

In my opinion, you have to see both the outside and the inside to do a place justice, some sites are only interested on the inside, and stuff the outside. On here we like to see every part of a building, it ties everything up, and finishes places off. It's all part of our history so stupid to remove pictures if they're outside shots!

I did say they were more laid back here than on certain other forums. :)

We're very laid back here, :) Everyone helps everyone, and there's no cliqueness, or egos, or if there was, they're deleted and sorted out pretty quickly. :)

We're all documenting different things as part of our history, whatever it, and how big or small it is, it's still history.

Well done on your pics, like I said before, there's quite a lot of your pics that I haven't seen before. :)

Cheers, and welcome again to the forum.

:) Sal

I did get to go inside this place but I never saw the road signs around the perimeter. I like the "patients use this road" one. :) When I finally got to see this place last year, it was part demolished yet still rather huge inside.

I too am sad to see this place go. :( There was something special about Cane Hill, it had a certain atmosphere that you don't forget and there were so many things intact in there.
