These are some pictures i took of My visit to Ambergate Wireworks and Cottages back in February 2024 .
Now for some information about the wireworks i found online ( please note this information was found online so all rights go towards the original poster of the information ) : Ambergate Wire Works was originally a wire manufacturing facility set up by Richard Johnson & Nephew in 1876.
They specialised in telegraph wires, fencing and suspension cables and famously put in a tender for the suspension wires for the Brooklyn Bridge. Typically, suspension wires were made from steel, due to its tensile strength, and for telegraphy wires copper was used due to its higher conductivity. J&N produced the telegraph cables laid underneath the English Channel during World War 2. At its peak, the factory employed over 500 people. The wireworks fully closed down in 1996 and have since been heavily secured and bordered up due to safety reasons . also the images im about to show are a little blurry due to on the day i took the photos it was raining so it kept fogging up the camera and i had to use my phone as i didnt want my more high tech camera to get ruined . other then that i hope you enjoy and as always let me know how i can improve it is much appreciated :) .... many thanks .... laww :)
