Due to the depressing news I received about the fire in the admin block last weekend I figured I'd post a few of my shots from some of the more memorable of the many explores I did at the Hill,

Some lovely shots there!

It amazes me in these places that some rooms dont look like theyve been touched and others are proper wrecked!

Nice one!

Nice to see the ol girl again Oxy..I remember you used to practically live here years ago!

Thanks for looking in your back catalogue Oxy. I can understand some of the reactions of members of DP now. I have not been to this site myself.

It looked like a good first explore for the the apprentice urbexer as well as allowing the more discerning photographer to get some artistic shots.

Alas, all that's left now are the back catalogue pics - also a piece of British history gone forever.

I really wish i had the guts to go out and explore, these pictures are brilliant!
Correct me if im wrong, but I think Charlie Chaplin's mother was admitted to Cane Hill (unless there is another hospital by the same name)

That was Cane Hill though. 19 years of neglect, arson, vandalism...and yet you could turn the corner into a room and find it as if it was left just yesterday. I think the day I was up there with Oxy, think this was in King/Keller/Keats and turned the corner to this little room.. which is one of my favourite little corners of the site.

I think I spent 9 hours in Cane Hill that day, along with Oxy  - Could have spent another 9 days, easily.

Thanks for your replies. Nice one Tumbles, that shot of us in the chapel made me laugh. That was a great day as we saw a hell of a lot and didn't get busted which is really quite something when you consider how many of us were there!

The office in the corner was great - all kinds of stuff in there. But yeh, as already said, it really varied a lot depending on which wards you went in to. The ones that closed in the 60's were a real state - that constant crunching under your boots as the floor was just covered in dead pigeons, and probably mice and rats too.

I see there is potentially a plan in place to save the admin block somehow so that is something,

time will tell,
