I've become a bit obsessed with these posts since i came across one while out mountain biking. I work the SW of England and have started checking the ROC map to see if i can drop in on anything during the working day. I was surprised when i saw one at Fordingbridge and even more surprised when i realised id driven past it around 50-60 times in the last 10 years.

I only popped along as i wanted to see what the difference was on a Master post and was aware that the info said it was locked shut

Found the site no problem and the gate is clear in the hedge row with a clear path leading to the post. As i pushed through the trees i could see the post and after a 30 minute fight with brambles managed to get to it to find that the hatch has been ripped off and left dangling.

After more clearing of brambles from the shaft i entered and could see that kids had been in there.

Most of the Equipment i had seen on the info page had now gone, there was the green large shelving and a small unit no sign of any dex shelfs.

There is now a huge amount of graffiti on the walls and its clear it was used for Teenage kicks for some time.

Due to the hard time i had getting to it i think this has been left alone for a good while.

I had a look around and was surprised when i found some old Diplomatic Car forms tucked out of the way in the old shelf on wall, had a look and tucked them back down low, this had some significance for me as they would have gone to RAFP&SS and i'm a ex snowdrop myself.

Sad to see these places getting trashed... i have pics will upload later ... i did look to see if there was a thread for this post but after going through all 14 pages couldn't find one, if i've duplicated please delete

This was my 7th ROC post i've managed to get in

Just tack em on to the end of your report, Another ROC fanatic is always welcome, even if it's and ex copper😇

Photo's added ..... can anyone tell me what the ROC's daily routine would have been like?

Awesome! Some shears and secateurs are always useful to have when dealing with old military sites! Damn brambles get everywhere.

There's some good info on the Wikipedia ROC page:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Observer_Corps#The_Cold_War

But as far as I'm aware, like most home defences, they weren't manned 24/7, they were really only used for training and would only have been permanently manned had nuclear war broken out.

Actually that's not in bad nick if you visit them in summer you will be able to experience the joy of nettles, I enjoyed your post, Nicely Done, Thanks
