Thanks for looking :)

Great work there Rich, I presume the ones buried must have sunk or the wall built over them. Like the summer house made out of a searchlight post but what is with the blocks under the embrasures. :)

You been a very busy boy, you must have covered some distance to get that lot!!

Some quality pics there buddy, many thanks.

What are these circular holes for???

Theory is to deflect bullets into the embrasures  not really sure to honest though unless it was just to thicken the protection

I must admit I thought gun mount, but wasn't too sure, looking forward to seeing anything else :)

I've never seen thickening on the inside before (I assume thats what the shelf is for as well as providing a convenient firing shelf) all the other retro thickened boxes I have seen have a substantial skirt added outside upto embrasure level.

The pipe mounts seem a long way back from the embrasure. It would greatly reduce the traverse if the pivot point was so far down the barrel. I guess they could be for the Lewis gun moveable mount that fitted round the cooling jacket however I am a Bit sceptical.

Any idea which units manned these boxes? It might give us an idea what weaponry would be likely to be mounted

Still trying to find some info mate

I shall compliment these lovely photos with the south bank of the river estuary at some point. Again - nice detail and a great day.
