During my vacation in Portugal i made a small trip to the mine of Rio Tinto.
Its a very big and very beautiful one.
I was hoping i could close to some more interesting points, walking or with the car,
but with my daughter it was too dangerous, so i only made a few pictures.

That's certainly a huge site! Love pic 4 of the layered excavations with the central lagoon...I'm betting that's a very long way down. :mrgreen:

That's a big site :mrgreen: it's still in operation, correct :question: from my own experience these sites can be very dangerous, no place for children.

It looked like not all parts are used anymore.
Maybe someday i go check it out without a kid..
 
Like the dragline shovel - did you get close enough to see whether it was a Ruston Bucyrus (looks like that from its livery)?
