During my vacation in Portugal i made a small trip to the mine of Rio Tinto.
Its a very big and very beautiful one.
I was hoping i could close to some more interesting points, walking or with the car,
but with my daughter it was too dangerous, so i only made a few pictures.

That's certainly a huge site! Love pic 4 of the layered excavations with the central lagoon...I'm betting that's a very long way down.

That's a big site it's still in operation, correct from my own experience these sites can be very dangerous, no place for children.

It looked like not all parts are used anymore.
Maybe someday i go check it out without a kid..

Like the dragline shovel - did you get close enough to see whether it was a Ruston Bucyrus (looks like that from its livery)?
